My family shoots are designed to imitate pure natural life, by capturing the chemistry, love and connection between parents and their kids. I only make use of natural ambient light and my shooting style embraces movement, mayhem and spontaneous moments--just like a kid---its all about living and shooting in the 'now'.

Incredible Northern Hemisphere Autumns. Pam gave birth to this little bundle 2 weeks after our shoot at Fish Lake, Minnesota, USA
Love the way little Aiden used my tripod's leg for his modeling pose |
Seven years after shooting this German couple's wedding at Steenberg, glad to see Mario's family back and doubled in size
Check out the tiny pillow---pure genius as a photography prop for family shoots-whenever this kid was tired, she would just flop her pillow down and relax until she got her infamous 'second wind'. |
ANd there it is--the second 'wind' I just referred to above! |
Mommy's girls! |
Boys and their little toys |
HEY YOU, Im talking to YOU--did you see that LEGENDARY SHOT? |
Things are looking UP! |
Because I am hiding and can't see you, that means you can't see me either........ right????? |
Ahh the beauty of being your own BIGGEST FAN--you go ANDY MAN! |
The reason for the parents smiles--they realize they have brought a true flower power 'romantic' into the world. |
After shooting Amanda & Ryan's wedding in Mexico in 2006, what a pleasure to see how the gene pool continues to blossom |
A beautifully rusted old Minnesota Barn in the backround |
The Transition from USA to SA easily noticeable by the sports played by our youngsters. Nicholas already showing masterful concentration for those lengthy 5 day cricket games. |
Leigh and Clyde enjoying the greenery of St George's Park, Port Elizabeth
I can 'bearly' get by in life without my daily hugs! |
Mandy and family at the gorgeous and green Jonkershoek Forest in Stellenbosch, outside Cape Town
Forest Fever! |
Pure, blissful, innocence |
This has got to rank as one of the cutest little outfits I have ever photographed |
Brotherly love |
Daddy's girl. The pine forest clearly visible in the backround. Although an alien species, they are carefully monitored to ensure the survival of the 1100 species of mountain fynbos in the Jonkershoek forest. It is also a haven for fresh porcini mushrooms. |
Always good to witness these tender moments between couples, amidst all the pressures of parenthood |
ALthough we missed most of the vibrant Autumn Colours, this shoot at Weaver Lake, Minnesota reminded me of the gorgeousness of greens in the leaves and trees. (www.wlca.org/) |
Thanks to their annual temperature range of 70 degrees celsius, unlike us, these Americans are used to dressing for 4 distinct seasons a year. |
Amazing Autumn |
And before you know it, they are TEENAGERS--but thankfully still holding on to their teddy bears! |
Love the way Antigua's eyes are mirrowed in the foresty sea- greens at St Georges park, Port Elizabeth |
Never before have I seen such enthusiasm from the family--so much for just 'sitting on the bench' as the sports term goes |
Tigs and her 3 cousins---pure playfulness |
Family fun----courtesy of all Antigua's cousins |
The cousins doing a rendition of the famous Abbey Road studio's walk in London--fantastic street artists used old taxis as wall art |
This taxi street art was both bizarre and beautiful as a photographic backdrop |
Family shoots--you ready to go for a 'Nikon Spin' with Charnell Timms Photography? |
Windiest shoot of my life in the city bowls quarry in Vredehoek, Cape Town. Thankfully nothing stopped this Irish family from celebrating Dad's fine 50year old form, in style!
50 year old Mr Muscle Mania
Who needs graffiti when your family can adorn the walls into 'quarry art'
love them all!
