'URBAN ENERGY' in CAPE TOWN - PER & CHARLOTTE WEDDING SHOOT

One of my all-time favourite wedding shoots---capturing the urban energy around Cape Town's city bowl, combined with the coolest of Cape Town beach-life  ---  Photographic Paradise!
Of course no shoot of the city would be complete without including a Cape Town institution like our famous 'Long street Cafe' which offers a glimpse of our Victorian past with its impressive art-deco style. Elsewhere around the city, one is spoilt for choice with vibrant colours, trendy African textures and city-slick restaurants dotting the map and clothing my camera with the perfect cosmopolitan vibe.

Moving away from the city, I then took my clients to a small secluded beach, wedged perfectly between Bakoven and Llundudno beaches on the Atlantic Seaboard (www.uncoverthecape.co.za/local.../beaches/bakoven/index.htm)

The perfect azure waters, with the 12 Apostles towering over to form a formidable backdrop are both reminders that if you are looking for paradise on your wedding shoot, whilst simultaneously craving a bit of Cape Town culture  -- this is IT! Thanks to my Swedish clients Per and Charlotte for being the funkiest couple in town and to Sue Towse who specializes in co-ordinating these small Swedish weddings--always such a pleasure to work with you Sue (http://www.satravelco.com/)
Street life: This onlooker contemplates the merits of the papparazzi. Looks like the jury is still out!
Fires on the mountain in the backround--a typical summers day in the mother city.

EZNA & WYNAND - AUGUSTA KLEINBOSCH GUESTHOUSE in PAARL

The beauty of Ezna and Wynand's wedding at Augusta Kleinbosch in Paarl (www.kleinbosch.de/) is that one feels engulfed in an oasis, with a garden of eden forming the perfect canopy away from the scorching heat. A highlight of the day was not only the most obedient and well trained horse I have ever worked with, but to witness the excitement of the bride and groom when Michelle from horsetrails (www.horsetrails-sa.co.za) added to the festivities by performing the ancient art of Sabrage and got the bubbly flowing in a frenetic flowing fashion. (One can also witness the art of Sabrage at Cabriere wine estate in Franschhoek www.cabriere.co.za where live demonstrations are performed on Saturday mornings).

GUIDO & CAROLA - DORNIER WINE ESTATE, STELLENBOSCH....from Windsurfer to Wedding Man

Shooting this German wedding at Dornier Wine Estate was both a surprise as well as a pleasure--As can be spotted by the first 2 images, I have always known Guido in his windsurfing gear, photographing him on Sunset Beach, the 3rd best windsurfing spot in the world. For wind and swell info check out windguru(http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php?sc=91
Just imagine the splendid surprise and change of scenery when I first saw Guido in his formal black suit  as he tied the knot to his darling Carola.
The wedding was a intimate affair, with all guests being able to feast on the amphitheater of mountains surrounding the newly renovated Dornier Homestead on the property. (www.Dornier.co.za)
Best of all was the rather novel touch to this love story---both Guido and Carola have a fondness for the scene in the famous 'Forrest Gump' movie when Forest releases a feather into the heavens above.

Carola surprised Guido by asking all guests over the span of 1year to collect feathers so that they could be released on their wedding day. As you can see the children might remember it long after the wedding couple themselves. Take note of Carola's dress, which was also inspired by these free-flowing feathery forms . Congratulations to you both and for showing me once again, that the Germans know better than most how to throw a sensational party.
