TIMES MEDIA SERVING UP A SPECIAL BLEND OF CELEBRITY & CULLINARY CONNECTEDNESS FOR DESIGN INDABA @ THE PLUSH OTTIMO CIBO RESTAURANT IN BISHOPS COURT, CAPE TOWN

What better place to rub shoulders with creative advertising giants like Marcello Serpa than the private restaurant owned and run by Nikki Booth. (http://www.topbilling.com/articles/Location-Entertaining-with-Nikki-Booth.html?articleID=1220)
Set against the backdrop of Table Mountain Ottimo Cibo is a idyllic venue for informal but upscale corporate gatherings - a true hedonistic delight.

 A touch of Tuscany?
Movers and shakers of Times Media--both gentlemen subscribers of  007's 'shaken not stirred' notion
Sundowners on a South African 'stoep' and corporates revealing in relaxation. Life is beautiful.

The poet Bauvard once wrote:  "The stamina of the hedonist. To laugh until the throat burns and smoke a cigar to soothe it, to black out but not pass out, to love without climax, to be immortal in the moment". Corporate charisma at it's best.

Guests from Times Media all enjoying a relaxing cocktail before the arrival of  special guest Marcello Serpa… all the way from Brasil
Welcome Brazilian-born Marcello Serpa. Creative director of AlmapBBDO, Havaianas was Serpa's first account  and for 17 years the mastermind of its award-winning advertising in Brazil and internationally. Closer to home Marcello made Volkswagen Kombis a local favorite too. Check out his 17 years of breathtaking ad campaigns here (http://thisisnotadvertising.wordpress.com/tag/brazil/)

One of my favorite portraits of Marcello --a beautifully, calm and reflective character, powerfully unpretentious and completely at ease with the world. What a pleasure to photograph this creative icon.

Marcello played a pivotal role in transforming Haviannas from being a commodity that was one step above going barefoot for Brazil’s poor to a chic brand bursting with colorful personality.
Put your hands together for Marcello who throughout his career has been noted as Brazil's most honored art director. A man who has raked in 149 Cannes Lions awards (www.canneslions.com/)

Times Media guests both enjoying and hanging onto every word spoken by this most awarded creative in the history of Sao Paulo. In 2008, Marcello also became the first non-Anglo-Saxon to receive the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to worldwide advertising.
AlmapBBDo has three nominations for Agency of the Year at Cannes and was the first-ever double winner of Agency of the Year in the Gunn Report--now that is worthy of applause. Their work is simply spellbounding. Go check it out (http://www.bbdo.com/#!/the-work)
Cheers to another successful, inspiring and enjoyable evening hosted by Times Media. Living their  'Live, Inspired' slogan to the fullest (www.timesmedia.co.za)

BEAUTIFUL BELGIAN'S IN MY BELOVED COUNTRY - WEDDING BELLS RINGING AT SARONSBERG, MONTPELLIER & RIJKS IN TULBAGH

Chloe and Herman's two day wedding, (the hottest of my career at 44 degree celsius), spanned three distinctive venues on both sides of the Tulbagh valley. From the plush avant-garde designs at Saronsberg winery, to the quaint and almost desolate stone chapel at Montpellier, to the inerrant Cape-Dutch architecture at Rijks, this was not only a wedding celebration, but a true passage to all senses.
Saronsberg wine estate with its cutting-edge tasting room which houses the Saronsberg Collection, a permanent display of contemporary South African art (www.saronsberg.com)
Artists including Paul du Toit and Walter Battiss(one of South Africa's first and most important abstract painters) adorn the walls of the upstairs gallery, adding a plethora of colour, texture and artistry to the this novel wedding shoot.

Oscar Wilde once said, 'Life imitates art far more than art imitates Life" Here's a picture to ponder that point!
Colour my love! Chloe and Herman are highlighted  by Paul du Toit's 'Off the wall' painting. This painting uses the impasto technique (thick industrial paste into which he scratched lines and images). Sadly Paul died of cancer at the tender age of 48 last month (www.pauldutoit.com)
I adore the subtlety sexiness of Chloe's smile, the tender ease of her hand on his hand--all those gestures that add up to one simple line that say's, 'You are mine'

A blending of my life's greatest passions: photography and wine! I was in my element shooting this couple in the barrel maturation room at Saronsberg. The famous Robert Mondavi once said: "I want to make wines that harmonize with food—wines that almost hug your tongue with gentleness" and so it was for the meal that was soon to follow under the star-struck silence of the Tulbagh night.

Sundowners all around

Saronsberg wine estate with its bohemian design and art-rich grounds is the perfect playground
for romantic getaways and starlight dinners in this idyllically windless valley.

Day two--and its a perfect day for a white wedding!

Montpellier provides a romantic setting for a country getaway, with it's charming chapel, picturesque wedding venue and old Cape style guest house and manicured grounds.

'Grape expectations' await this wedding couple

Love is…….photographing yourself!

During the night of 29 September 1969 most of the picturesque little town of Tulbagh and  surrounding area was partly destroyed by the most destructive earthquake in South African history. (hwww.route62-info.co.za/towns/info/4/tulbagh). Today, the tourism and wedding industry loom as large as this little chapel at nightfall--moonstruck.
